Following its recent acquisition by SLR, Wardell Armstrong now forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects across the world from over 100 offices. We require an ambitious Ground Investigation Engineer/ Geologist / Engineering Geologist / Geo-environmental Engineer / Environmental Scientist to join our Ground Engineering Team in our Leeds office. The Land Quality team undertakes a wide range of site assessment/investigation and associated reporting for a diverse range of clients and you will get to manage bids, projects, fieldwork and data and lead the preparation of subsequent reports to provide advice to clients in this role.
The role involves an interesting variety of projects across a range of sectors and clients such as energy (linear infrastructure), property development, infrastructure, mining, local authorities, and waste management.
- Acting as a Site Engineer or supporting role, supervising multiple ground investigation activities on either short or long duration projects with potential working away from home for extended periods. Site work carries the benefit of accruing toil, which can be taken as additional leave;
- Completion of land contamination, mining/geology and ground engineering desk studies;
- Supervision of site works including logging of soils and rock (in accordance with current UK standards);
- Site monitoring activities to include groundwater sampling and gas monitoring;
- Assist with site investigation design and reporting;
- Specify and supervise in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with UK specifications and current technical standards;
- Liaise with clients, engineers, contractors and sub-contractors throughout the site work phase;
- Assist in the preparation of contract documentation and administration of contracts (including financial control);
- Geotechnical and geo-environmental data assessment and analysis.

About you: We are looking for the right people to work with our growing team, ranging from graduate to senior, with an ability to work independently when required and as part of a team. Communicative, organised, flexible and committed, you must also have:
- BSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Geology or Science (relevant MSc or industry experience is advantageous);
- Experience of logging soils and rock (in accordance with current UK standards);
- A full and clean UK driving licence;
- Written report writing skills, and computer software skills.
