We are seeking a skilled and motivated Legal Counsel with a focus, principally, on either transactional property work or corporate/commercial contract work to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is looking to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization.
As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in assisting the legal team to deliver on our significant and exciting project pipeline and provide legal guidance across a broad range of matters, ensuring compliance, managing risk, and supporting business objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on commercial land related documents (including options, leases, underleases, licences, deeds of variation and easements).
- Investigation of title and preparation of reports for internal stakeholders following review of title documents, pre-contract searches and replies to enquiries.
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts (including framework agreements, service level agreements, sub-contracts, EPC Agreements and Supply Agreements).
- Advise internal stakeholders on the risks and potential legal implications of matters which arise as part of the day-to-day running of the business (ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations and company policies).
- Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations impacting the business and proactively advise the business on those changes.
- Support the development and maintenance of contract templates, guidelines, and best practices to streamline contract processes.
- Work with external legal counsel to ensure matters are progressed efficiently and brought to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Review and negotiate corporate acquisition or disposal documents. Supporting due diligence exercises & funding rounds.
- Ability to manage own workload while receiving support and supervision.
- Accountable for all dealings with other lawyers and other legal aspects on all property transactions.
- Assess risk on every transaction by using skills to make pragmatic decisions and to ensure appropriate legal advice is given.
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines.
- While experience of all of the above would be beneficial, we welcome applications from candidates who may not yet have the requisite experience in every area and can support the right applicant to grow into the roles available.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proven track record of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively, delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to align legal strategies with business objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks and propose creative solutions.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and technology, Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Adaptable, proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Be a Solicitor or Legal Executive qualified in the UK with a valid practicing certificate.
- We would typically expect the Legal Counsel role to reflect 1 – 4 years PQE gained either in-house or with a reputable law firm, but do not have any fixed criteria in this regard.
