Our client are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Chargehand/Foreman - Industrial Painter (Bridges) to join their team. This role combines hands-on painting and blasting work with frontline supervision, making it ideal for a skilled tradesperson ready to take the next step into team leadership.
You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of bridge maintenance and painting works, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. In addition to your technical tasks, you will oversee a small team, coordinate workloads, and act as the point of contact for management and site supervisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team of industrial painters and support staff on site
- Coordinate daily tasks and ensure work is completed to required standards and deadlines
- Sign off completed works, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards
- Perform blasting and painting tasks in accordance with sector scheme standards
- Support installation and removal of bespoke access systems
- Carry out cyclic maintenance tasks as part of scheduled routines
- Operate bridge access systems (gantries)
- Actively participate in Rescue Team activities
- Liaise with site management and report progress or issues
- Ensure all team members comply with Health & Safety legislation and site rules
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid ICATS Applicator module card
- Valid ICATS Blasting/Spraying modules
- Proven experience in a supervisory or chargehand role within an industrial painting environment
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines
- Full UK driving licence
