As a key member of our Learning and Development Team, and wider People Team, you will play a critical role in shaping our workforce by supporting the development of early careers pathways, facilitating engaging training programs, and ensuring compliance with core skills and industry standards. You will work collaboratively with operational teams, training providers, and compliance bodies to support capability development and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and coordinate graduate, apprenticeship, and placement programs.
- Support managers in onboarding, mentoring, and reviewing progress for early careers employees.
- Liaise with training providers, schools, and colleges to promote construction careers and build talent pipelines.
- Track performance, progression, and engagement of early career participation to ensure their needs, as well as the needs of the business are met.
- Build and maintain working relationships with all Graduate, Apprentice & Placement employees to nurture and develop them within Farrans from day one.
- Deliver or coordinate in-house and third-party training for technical, safety, and professional skills.
- Assist in developing training materials and e-learning content aligned with business needs.
- Schedule, track, and report on training attendance and effectiveness.
- Support subject matter experts in delivering job-specific training.
- Continually look at new ways of improving; reviewing current curriculum, and making changes where necessary.
- Maintain training records and ensure workforce compliance with industry and client-mandated training (e.g., CSCS, CITB, health & safety).
- Monitor expirations and coordinate refresher training as needed.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure training standards are met across sites.
- Provide training compliance data and insights to support client tenders and audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or professional certifications (e.g., CIPD) are a plus.
- 3+ yearsβ experience in a learning and development role.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of early careers frameworks (e.g., apprenticeships, graduate schemes).
- Experience designing and delivering training; for delivery online and in-person is essential.
- A skilled facilitator who can deliver training and facilitate sessions with a wide range of participants across multiple locations.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient with learning management systems and MS Office.
- A problem solver; both practical and innovative.
- Highly organised and methodical, who is able to work to tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, capable of working under minimal supervision and on own initiative.
- Highly enthusiastic individual with an excellent professional demeanour.
- Able to work collaboratively in a multi-team environment.
- Familiarity with core construction training (CITB, CSCS, NVQs, etc.)
