Senior Legal Counsel (In-House)
Construction firm
Based in either London or Leeds
Hybrid working (1 day per week in the office)
£90K-£110K + bonus + car allowance
The role:
- Providing commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of projects ensuring compliance with applicable law.
- Reviewing, negotiating and/or drafting agreements and conducting contract negotiations with project counterparties primarily for construction, refurbishment and related services.
- Supporting on commercial and contractual matters for tenders, projects, variations and on-going contractual and operational matters.
- Assisting on the governance of transactions at local and group level.
- Working closely with colleagues throughout the group and with customers.
- Managing external legal resource as required.
- Assisting in developing and delivering training on legal matters for colleagues across the business.
Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
- Good knowledge of relevant areas of law including standard-form construction contracts, outsourcing, commercial and UK public procurement.
- Knowledge of or an experience of the UK construction industry is required
- Strong drafting, negotiating and analytical skills. Ability to draft and negotiate a variety of documentation including development, construction, consultants and services agreements.
