An exciting and rewarding opportunity for an ambitious individual, keen to further their career in B2B journalism, reporting to the editor-in-chief.
Objectives:
- Raise the profile of the institution and the work of its members through the development of your own creative, engaging and relevant content that improves reader engagement, in both printed and digital formats
- Play a vital role in the production and delivery of the institution's monthly journal and other periodical publications to a consistently high standard, ensuring content aligns with the institution's missions and values
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with key industry contacts to develop future content creation opportunities for both the editorial and communications sections of the organisation
Role responsibilities:
- Assisting in the design, layout, production and delivery of the institution’s publications and membership literature
- Arranging interviews with industry professionals
- Writing features and news items
- Commissioning and editing features
- Liaison with printers, mailing houses and digital producers
- Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate new ideas to enhance publications
Candidate requirements (essential):
- Proven experience in a relevant role
- Ability to commission and create interesting content, based on research and insightful interviews
- Ability to subedit copy, fit layouts and manage the client approval process
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat)
- Ability to work and travel independently and as part of a team
- UK driving licence and access to vehicle (expenses reimbursed)
Candidate requirements (desirable):
- English or journalism degree
- Two years or more spent writing for professional publications
- Enthusiasm to embrace original approaches to journalism and new ways of working
