Structural Design Delivery Lead (Power Sector) in Glasgow. Up to £75k + benefits.

I am currently in the market for a Structural Design Delivery Lead to take ownership of structural engineering delivery across a range of high-voltage substation and power infrastructure projects (11kV–132kV and above). This is a senior, hands-on leadership role, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. You’ll lead structural design delivery from early-stage concepts through to construction handover—coordinating internal teams, managing sub-contractors, and being the key technical point of contact for both our clients and site delivery teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the structural design function across multiple live projects
  • Managing the interface between the design team, specialist sub-contractors, and construction delivery
  • Running and overseeing design reviews, IDRs, HAZOPs, and compliance checks
  • Driving constructability and practicality into all structural designs
  • Providing guidance on temporary works and ensuring safe, buildable solutions
  • Supporting site teams with design queries, inspections, and issue resolution
  • Advising on civil/structural matters including land consents, CDM, and UK compliance

What I’m looking for:

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Chartered preferred)
  • Significant experience in a lead design role for substations, power plants, or infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary design coordination and sub-contractors
  • Strong understanding of CDM, British Standards, and site delivery needs
  • A confident communicator, able to influence stakeholders and represent engineering at a senior level
  • Proficient in MS Office (Primavera P6 or CAD a bonus)
  • Full UK driving licence

If you are looking for a new challenge and this sounds of interest, please get in touch and we can arrange a call to see if you are a good fit.
