We Build Recruitment are now looking to hire a Contracts Manager on behalf of our client, a leading Preston based Civil Engineering company. Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Civils Construction Contracts Manager to oversee the commercial and contractual management of civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring contracts are effectively managed, risks mitigated, and projects delivered within budget and timeframes while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
- Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of civils construction projects, from contract negotiation to closeout.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate contract documentation including tenders, subcontractor agreements, and variations.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring commercial objectives are met.
- Identify, assess, and manage contractual risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead claims management, dispute resolution, and contract compliance activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on contractual obligations.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of valuations, progress claims, and final accounts.
- Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting to senior management.
- Keep up to date with relevant construction legislation, procurement regulations, and industry best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior commercial and contracts staff as required.
Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) managing contracts in civil engineering or heavy civils construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC, or similar.
- Demonstrable expertise in contract negotiation, commercial management, and risk mitigation.
- Experience in claims management and dispute resolution.
- Proficient in contract management software and MS Office suite.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
- Adaptable to changing project demands and environments.
