Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Trading/Risk Analyst with 5+ years of experience in the natural gas and power trading sector. The ideal candidate will support daily risk management operations, monitor trading activities, and ensure compliance with the firm’s risk limits and controls. This position is critical in delivering insights and analysis that help guide commercial decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report daily market, credit, and operational risks associated with gas trading portfolios.
  • Perform mark-to-market (MtM) valuations, P&L attribution, and risk metrics such as VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Work closely with trading, scheduling, and commercial teams to understand deal structures and exposures.
  • Validate and maintain pricing curves, volatilities, and valuation models for physical and financial instruments.
  • Ensure accurate trade capture and position reporting; resolve trade discrepancies and coordinate with middle and back office.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of risk policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with internal governance and external regulations.
  • Support regulatory reporting and audits (e.g., FERC, CFTC, REMIT, Dodd-Frank).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field. Master’s or CFA a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in risk management or middle office roles within an energy trading firm (preferably gas and/or power).
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, trading instruments, and risk drivers.
  • Experience with ETRM systems (e.g., Endur, Allegro, RightAngle) and advanced Excel; Python or SQL skills are a plus.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
