A superb opportunity for a detail orientated, highly motivated individual to join a global logistics organisation in the role of Customs Compliance Manager. The position will be initially for 12 months (FTC) but is likely to become a permanent opportunity. You will work predominantly from the company's Nuneaton office, with the option of working one day from home per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure any regulatory compliance is adhered to including import and export customs formalities including any duty and tax requirements.
- Ensure any global or governmental initiatives are adhered to, such as Brexit or The Windsor Framework.
- Being the first point of contact for export, import and any other customs related queries from both internal and external stakeholders, including HMRC.
- Represent the business at a Senior level at the JCCC and SMMT Customs and Tariff Working Group Sessions.
- Facilitate and manage any external audits conducted by the relevant regulatory authority.
- Assign and verify HS tariff codes.
- Ensure any customs authorisations are compliant in accordance with the terms and conditions of the authorisation given by HMRC – including Inward Processing, Customs Warehouse and Customs Simplified procedures.
- Conduct Quality Assurance audits to ensure procedures are being followed in accordance with the regulatory authority requirements.
- Maintain and update any standard operating procedures, whilst driving best practices and standardisation across the business.
- Assess and review any risks to the business.
- Support the transport and freight teams with respect to any queries relating to the transportation of Dangerous Goods for Air, Road and Sea.
- Ensure compliance with regards to VAT Notice 703.
- Responsible for resource planning, training and development within the team.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Qualifications in Customs or International Trade including Incoterms (Level 4 or above).
- Relevant professional experience in customs.
- Experience in Aviation and Ocean Security Protocols.
- Knowledge or Experience of CDS.
Skills / Attributes:
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to work on projects and tasks that can have a high level of complexity.
- Hands on mentality whilst adhering to legal frameworks.
- Ability to motivate others.
