Etex Insulation UK limited (Superglass) is a manufacturer of mineral glass wool thermal and acoustic insulation. We currently have an opportunity for a Line Operator (Furnace Stand-In) to join our site based in the heart of Stirling. This important role involves the operation of equipment associated with the production of glass mineral wool for our range of products as well as the operation and control of glass furnaces and is a critical role in the production of glass mineral wool for our range of products. You will be required to acquire a detailed understanding of operations and have a detailed understanding of furnace operations with a high focus on safety, while engaging in a culture of continuous improvement.

You’ll need previous experience in a similar production role, attention to detail and accuracy, literacy and numeracy skills, the ability to work as a part of a team, resilience, the ability to learn new tasks and to change with new developments.

We have a popular continental shift pattern of 14 shifts split into 4 groups i.e 3 dayshifts, 3 off, 3 nightshifts etc. The 14 shifts are spread over 28 days, with a full week off. There is opportunity to earn more by providing holiday cover for colleagues.

Accountabilities:

  • Following all health and safety protocols and always putting safety first;
  • Operate furnace within set process parameters;
  • Monitor, report and maintain fibre quality through efficient & stable furnace parameters;
  • Routine inspection of furnace superstructure and monitor furnace equipment and components;
  • Sample fibre & glass condition as required;
  • Understand and adhere to product specification, monitoring quality and taking action if process is not running well;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement;
  • Accept ownership of specific allocated areas in terms of housekeeping and cleaning, ensuring equipment is stored in the correct place and the work area is tidy;
  • Work as a good team member, supporting others and sharing knowledge.
