In this role, you will assist the team with the daily operation of our sports and leisure facilities, ensuring a safe, customer-focused environment that promotes activity and maintains cleanliness and safety in our gyms.

Salary: £13.47 – £13.91 per hour

Hours: Part Time

Contract: Fixed-term until 30th Nov 2025

About the Role

Ipswich Borough Council operates various sports sites across the town. We seek hardworking, organized, and motivated individuals to join our team. The role requires evening and weekend work, with responsibilities including:

  • Setting up/down equipment
  • Cleaning
  • Supervising children's activities
  • Handling customer inquiries

You should be confident in delivering gym inductions and creating bespoke gym programs for clients. The successful candidates will work a shift pattern that includes evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. There are 8 vacancies available on a temporary fixed-term contract until 30th November 2025.

Available shifts at Gainsborough Sports Centre include:

  • Monday 9:00 – 16:30 (7 hours plus 30 min unpaid break)
  • Monday 16:00 – 22:30 (6 hours plus 30 min unpaid break)
  • Tuesday 15:30 – 22:30 (6.5 hours plus 30 min unpaid break)
  • Friday 16:00 – 22:30 (6 hours plus 30 min unpaid break)

Applicants may apply for single or multiple shifts based on availability. Please note, casual positions are not available; we are recruiting only for the specified hours.

Requirements include a minimum Level 2 qualification in Health, Fitness, and Exercise Instruction. DBS clearance is also required.
