As a Waste Porter for Sodexo at Colchester Hospital, you will play a key role in supporting patient care and protecting the environment through the safe and effective handling of waste and recycling materials. You will be part of a dedicated team that ensures the hospital remains a clean, safe, and welcoming space for patients, visitors, and staff.

What you will do:

  • Safely transport waste and recycling to designated disposal areas
  • Operate on-site waste compaction equipment and monitor for contamination
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic refuse area in line with environmental and infection control standards
  • Monitor the condition of waste equipment and report issues promptly
  • Work as part of a responsive team delivering ad-hoc and scheduled waste collections
  • Provide additional support with portering duties when required (e.g., transporting medical equipment, specimens, etc.)
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with Sodexo and NHS policies on Health & Safety, Confidentiality, and Environmental Management
