You will act as our client's quality representative, supporting a portfolio of projects under the Bristol City Leap initiative. Working across multiple project teams, you will help embed best practice, monitor contractor performance, and ensure robust processes are in place to protect the long-term integrity of our client's heat network infrastructure.

  • Review contractor tender submissions (quality plans, methodology, resources) to assess delivery risk.
  • Develop quality framework documentation, reporting tools, and processes for their construction activities.
  • Coordinate early risk reviews and advise on buildability, compliance, and stakeholder interfaces (e.g. BCC, utilities).
  • Support briefings and documentation handover from design to construction phases.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineering teams to ensure technical clarity and deliverability.
  • Construction Quality & Site Oversight (c.50%)
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections across live sites to assess compliance with contract, ITPs, and RAMS.
    • Monitor contractor performance against agreed standards and escalate risks and non-conformances (NCRs).
    • Lead the review and acceptance of QA deliverables including test certificates, as-builts, redlines, and commissioning reports.
    • Maintain clear audit trails and contribute to dashboards on quality trends, contractor performance, and improvement actions.
    • Drive a "right first time" culture by promoting learning, ownership, and proactive risk management.
    • Ensure alignment between Quality and Health & Safety management systems in compliance with CDM and UK law.

    Required Skills & Experience

    • Experience in quality assurance roles within construction, district heating, or buried utilities.
    • Technical understanding of trenching, pipe laying, thermal insulation, reinstatement, and urban infrastructure constraints.
    • Skilled in reviewing and managing ITPs, NCRs, QA/QC documentation, and audit close-outs.
    • Able to work independently across multiple projects with clear stakeholder communication.
    • Familiar with construction compliance frameworks including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
    • Comfortable delivering training or coaching to PMs and site-based staff on quality standards and expectations.
