Our client is a well-established supplier of flour and flour-based mixes, serving food manufacturers, bakeries, and wholesalers across the UK. They are seeking a dynamic General Sales Manager to take charge of their commercial team, contribute to their strategic sales development, and continue their tradition of exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Territory Managers to grow and develop existing customer accounts and secure new business opportunities.
- Drive sales of flour and flour-based mixes to manufacturers, bakeries, and wholesale customers.
- Build and nurture relationships with key clients while identifying new market opportunities.
- Ensure effective credit control, maintaining customer accounts within agreed credit terms.
- Provide regular sales reporting and forecasting to senior leadership.
- Support and coach the sales team, driving performance and maintaining high professional standards.
Key Attributes and Experience:
- Proven track record in B2B sales within the food industry – flour or food ingredient experience highly preferred.
- Demonstrable success in managing key accounts and developing new business.
- Prior experience working with wholesalers is essential.
- Sound knowledge of the UK flour market and bakery trade is a strong advantage.
- Strong leadership skills – able to inspire, manage, and develop a professional sales team.
- High level of organisation with excellent planning and execution abilities.
- Strong customer service ethos with a commitment to long-term relationship building.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.

What our client offers:
- A competitive salary of £55,000–£65,000 depending on experience, car allowance, Pension and 24 days holiday plus Bank Holidays.
- Remote working although you will be expected to be on the road every week as you would be expected to spend time on the road with members of the sales team and also go out and visit current and prospective customers with occasional travel for client meetings and team coordination.
