Job Summary: We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated Asset Engineer to join our dynamic team! The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of critical assets across the region, ensuring their safe and efficient operation at all times. You'll play a key role in identifying opportunities to improve asset performance, working closely with stakeholders to deliver value for money and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for end-to-end management of critical assets, including strategic planning, budgeting, and operational decision making;
- Lead regular meetings with internal teams such as Operations & Maintenance staff to review asset health trends;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to asset performance reporting (e.g., OFWAT's AMP7);
- Identify areas where asset performance can be improved through proactive maintenance plans or investment decisions;
- Proactively engage with external parties such as contractors/suppliers regarding maintenance activities etc.;
- Prepare monthly reports highlighting any emerging risks or issues relating to asset performance which need escalation beyond the immediate team;
- Support other members of the asset strategy team by providing technical expertise when required;
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers within the team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Chartered engineer status or equivalent level of competence gained through relevant work experience;
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish;
- Experience of project management techniques, ideally within a utilities industry setting;
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal;
- Ability to influence others without direct line management authority;
- Knowledge of Water Industry processes would be advantageous but not essential;
- Good IT literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (in particular Excel).
Package: This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. Southern Water operate a hybrid approach to working between our office locations and home. We are offering a salary of up to £55,000 depending on skills and experience as well as other benefits including:
