This role involves the collection of household and commercial waste and/or recyclables, ensuring timely and efficient removal to designated disposal or recycling facilities.

About the Role: As a Refuse Collector, you will work as part of a small team, servicing a different local area each day. This physically active position requires the ability to work quickly and involves a lot of walking outdoors, and be courteous to members of the public as this is a public-facing role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Move bags, wheelie bins, and recycling containers
  • Operate lifting mechanisms to empty bins into the vehicle
  • Load waste and recyclable materials manually into the lorry
  • Sort recyclables at the kerbside
  • Assist the driver with navigation and safety
  • Report collection issues or obstructions
  • Unload waste at designated sites
  • Record waste volumes collected

Requirements:

  • Good physical fitness and stamina
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Professional and polite when dealing with the public

Working Hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday
  • Start time: 6:15am
  • 38 hours per week
