Extra Recruitment are currently recruiting for Design Engineers in the Bartley Green area of Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have proficient use of SolidWorks and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, innovative, pro-active, self-motivated, the ability to work individually or as part of a team, and have a methodical approach to tasks. The successful Design Engineer must have a HNC/HND in a technical area, preferably Mechanical Engineering, experience within bespoke machine design, and a proven record of successfully managing and delivering projects.
Responsibilities of a Design Engineer:
- Plan, manage, and oversee design projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinate project timelines and manage multiple high-priority tasks, ensuring all stakeholders meet deadlines and budgets while maintaining high quality.
- Lead collaborative efforts on complex projects, ensuring clear communication and coordination across disciplines.
- Design detailed and complex systems with precision, perform advanced simulations, and lead impactful design optimisation projects that consider sustainability and cost.
- Utilise Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering techniques to ensure a smooth transition from design concept into manufacture. Design and detail to ISO standards.
- Design, prototype, test, and validate new designs or improvements.
- Work in collaboration with other departments, such as production, software/electrical, quality, and aftersales, to ensure alignment and integration of design efforts.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Details of a Design Engineer:
- Salary - £55,000 - £58,000 dependent on experience
- Hours - 8:30am - 5pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm with 2 days working from home!
