Your mission: We are looking for motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineers to work on the design of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) nuclear power plants, as well as our future pipeline of projects. You will provide your mechanical expertise to successfully deliver our projects, in collaboration with clients, contractors, stakeholders and our project teams.
Your key responsibilities: The key responsibilities will include a selection of the following points, depending on your technical experience and the position you take within our team:
- Providing technical leadership and team management to deliver work packages effectively.
- Engineering and design of mechanical structures and components, including seismic design.
- Structural integrity assessment of mechanical components to British Standards, RCC-M and ASME Section III Codes for the construction or operation of new/existing nuclear power plants.
- Finite element analysis for thermal and pressure fatigue evaluation of mechanical and piping components according to RCC-M and ASME requirements.
- Calculation of piping components and analysis/design of components; including pumps, valves and supporting structures.
- Fracture mechanics studies, ageing of structures and components, design and calculation of anchorage elements, seismic margin assessment of existing structures (SMA, SPSA), seismic qualification of active components.
- Providing technical review and responding to site queries and requested changes in a dynamic and fast-paced environment to support contractor activities on HPC site.
- Developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders and supporting the business development team during the tendering process for our future project stream.
We would love to hear from people with: To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would meet the following requirements and criteria:
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered or willingness to obtain Chartership with the IMechE.
- Significant experience in structural analysis and design of structural components.
- Working familiarity with relevant technical Codes of Practice and Industry Standards (Eurocodes, British Standard, RCC-M and ASME).
- Experienced in general purpose finite element and structural design software (e.g. PIPESTRESS, BEAMSTRESS, ANSYS, SYSTUS etc.) for static or dynamic loading, linear or non-linear analysis.
