They are open from 07:30 - 18:00, Monday to Friday all weeks of the year except for one week at Christmas. The nursery has been established for ten years by an internationally recognised early years innovator. They provide quality childcare for parents and carers for children ages 0-5 years. The nursery is run with a family feel, ensuring staff and children's wellbeing is at the heart of everything they do. They have brilliant links with the local community and provide a fresh, energised and focused approach to childcare. Their staff are highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic, who work well as a team and are focused on providing a high quality service.

Your role would be as the Nursery Manager of their nursery in Hove. You will be leading the team to create activities in their room and forest school. You will be supporting the children and using your initiative to help them succeed. The opportunity would see you working closely with the management to support the development and running of the nursery and taking ownership of running the nursery in the manager's absence.

Some of the main duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Be aware of and take responsibility for all aspects of health, safety and security.
  • Overseeing all children and managing your key children's developmental stages and maintaining accurate records of observations, assessments and plans for all children's individual needs in line with our systems.
  • Work in partnership with the parents/carers to encourage open communication and involvement within the nursery setting.
  • Be an inspiring role model for children and set high expectations which motivate and challenge children.
  • Take responsibility for the support, development and motivation of your co-workers.
  • Ensure everyone complies with all aspects of the EYFS framework, its policies and procedures and associated documentation.
  • Ensure the curriculum is delivered to a high standard daily and consistently and ensure that all room colleagues are trained and competent in delivering quality education.
  • Oversee the running of the nursery.

It is essential that you hold a Level 5 qualification within the Early Years. You will need to have worked within a nursery/primary/pre-prep environment in the last 2 years, and that can provide a reference. You need to have a clean, enhanced DBS check on the update service or, if not, the nursery will run an enhanced DBS check for you. You need to be flexible and, most importantly, have a fun personality that the children will be able to engage with. It is important that you have a good understanding of children's development and their needs, as well as ensure positive management of children's behaviour. They are looking for a qualified and experienced nursery manager who will have responsibility for the day to day running of the nursery as well as supervising the staff within it. You will play an important role in leading the training and development of staff, creating a safe and stimulating environment for children and staff and imparting their childcare knowledge and skills to the team.
