The Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion will support the Headteacher in:

  • Communicating the school’s vision compellingly and supporting the Headteacher’s strategic leadership.
  • The day-to-day management of the school.
  • Deputising for the Headteacher in their absence.
  • Formulating the aims and objectives of the school.
  • Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives.
  • Managing staff and resources to that end.
  • Monitoring progress towards meeting the school’s aims and objectives.

The Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion will ordinarily have a timetabled teaching commitment of up to 30% complying with the Teachers’ Standards and modelling best practice for others. This post is non-class based. They may also be required to undertake any of the duties delegated by the Headteacher.

The Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion will:

  • Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships across the school community.
  • Serve in the best interests of the school’s pupils.
  • By personal behaviour, set high professional standards in line with the Nolan Principles and the school’s vision and values.
  • Keep up to date with research-based developments in education.

As an Assistant Principal for Inclusion, you will have a safeguarding responsibility if appointed. The successful Assistant Principal for Inclusion candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references. This Assistant Principal for Inclusion post is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
