Role Overview

As the Lead Technical Artist, you will manage and guide a skilled team, overlooking the technical art for one of our games. For this role, effective managerial skills and strategic planning are crucial for meeting project goals and enhancing individual growth within the team. This position requires a strong technical background, collaboration across various departments, and team mentoring to ensure optimal game performance and excellent visuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical: Design and implement the ‘Unity layer’ linking art and animation with the programmers’ codebase; Construct new game features within Unity, including Unity UI, following internal technical workflow; Write custom C# components for complex visual elements; Optimise new and existing features; Create animations, particle effects, and custom shaders.
  • Managerial: Lead and mentor a team of experienced Technical Artists; Take a proactive role in product development according to company goals; Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams; Contribute to task planning and estimation with other Leads.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Technical: Expertise in the Unity engine, especially Unity UI; Experience with different architectural approaches to game development; Ability to write clean, performant C# code; Experience working with Git and knowledge of its best practices; Ability to create animations, particle effects and custom shaders; Experience optimising games for smooth performance on various devices.
  • Managerial: Proven experience in leading a team, with the ability to mentor and guide team members; Experience in strategic planning and accurate tasks estimation, aligning with project timelines and company objectives; Drive to proactively optimise technical art workflows to enhance team efficiency and performance.
