Cpl is collaborating with a growing beauty and skincare company with a large customer base, ranging from high street retailers from all around the world, online fashion retailers and licensed products. With a focus on colour cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care and fragrance, the business is looking for a Regulatory Technologist to join a rapidly growing, high-energy business in the Northwest of England. The role involves designing and manufacturing private label and branded cosmetic-regulated products from concept and design to delivery.
The regulatory team focuses on both regulatory compliance and customer needs to ensure products meet the highest standards of quality and commerciality. The role will work closely with the Brand, NPD, Manufacturing, Laboratory and Commercial teams to provide expert technical knowledge to support both new formulations and maintenance of the full portfolio.
Main areas of responsibility:
- Regulatory Compliance: Assess and ensure compliance of cosmetic products with national and international regulations. Ensure all customer requirements are met, including those of The Vegan Society, Cruelty Free International (CFI) and Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Prepare, review, and submit regulatory documents to authorities. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and guidelines impacting the cosmetics industry.
- Documentation and Submissions: Ensure all regulatory policies and processes are in place to deliver compliant global products. This includes the development and maintenance of Cosmetic Product Information Files (PIFs), claims substantiation and the management of Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs). Develop and manage comprehensive technical files for regulatory submissions. Ensure all scientific and legal documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with product development, quality control, and research teams to gather necessary data. Advise on regulatory requirements for new products and modifications to existing products. Respond to requests for additional information from regulatory agencies.
- Strategic Planning: Conduct regulatory impact assessments for changes to products. Manage an effective global regulatory horizon scanning process to ensure our regulatory processes remain future-fit. Develop strategies to mitigate regulatory risks and ensure smooth product launches.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Maintain detailed records of all regulatory activities and communications.
Essential requirements/qualifications:
- An experienced regulatory technologist with a minimum of 2 years in cosmetic regulatory affairs, ideally with global reach.
- Calm under pressure and able to balance often conflicting priorities.
- Labelling and artwork experience.
- Managed NPD activities in global markets.
- Confident with the cosmetics market.
