Role Overview: As a Staff Nurse, you’ll work as part of a close-knit team providing excellent patient focused care within the 33-bed medical ward which consists of both Neuro and Cardiac patients. You’ll be a caring and compassionate nurse, delivering a high standard of care to our patients. We value all our people and will provide you support and a great place to work.
What you’ll do:
- Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care for patients.
- Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey whilst demonstrating a culture of customer service.
- Manage care of allocated patients.
- Deputise for the Senior Staff Nurse in their absence.
- Act as a clinical role model for all members of staff, driving high standards of care at all times.
- Recognise the needs for DOL’s assessments, mental capacity assessment and ‘simple’ and ‘complex’ safeguarding referrals and highlight any concerns.
- Have a working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire.
- Ensure the correct storage and administration of medications in accordance with the hospital policies and NMC Standards for Medicine Management and ensure the safe handling of drug keys at all times.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all Consultants, ensuring individual Consultant protocols are utilised.
- Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area reporting to and from meetings / training updates.
What you’ll bring:
- Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required.
- ILS qualification required.
- Nursing experience in a Medical Ward within an acute hospital.
- Competent with wound care, venepuncture and cannulation.
- Tracheostomy tube care and management experience.
- Competent with indwelling urinary catheterization and nasogastric tube insertion.
- Experience in risk assessment.
- Competent with immunisation training, wound care management and venepuncture.
- Appropriate experience in a Staff Nurse role.
- Outpatients experience.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
