A Technical Lead - Repair plays a crucial role in the Gas Turbine and Rotary Machine industry, OEM projects in Derby and worldwide. The Technical Lead - Repair is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of repairs for the gas turbine engine fleet. The team is instrumental in supporting repair shops to meet financial targets and enhancing their repair capability.
The Repair Engineer is an individual contributor who will work to make decisions, apply concepts, and resolve issues on assigned projects guided by established business policies, procedures, standards, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Experienced in developing and implementing repair solutions for gas turbine components to meet both short-term operational demands and long-term business objectives.
- Skilled in analysing non-conformances and substantiating component repairs in support of engine overhauls.
- Adapt at recommending inspection methods, modifying repair documentation, and updating engine repair manuals.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles, including tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with global teams in design, stress analysis, materials, and systems engineering to ensure repair feasibility and industrialization.
- Prepares and delivers technical data presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including leadership teams.
- Ensures thorough documentation and compliance with engineering policies, export control, and IP standards.
- Promotes open communication and knowledge-sharing across teams, supporting continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of gas turbine operation in land and marine sectors.
- Familiarity with engine development testing, certification, airworthiness, and safety regulations.
- Experience working with technical databases, engineering documentation, and repair development tools.
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of tools like Excel Macros, NX, Teamcenter, PDM, and SAP is advantageous.
- Demonstrates sound engineering judgment in solving moderately complex technical and operational challenges.
- Stays current with advancements in gas turbine repair and engineering best practices.
- Contributes as a subject matter expert and mentor within their discipline.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence and build consensus across teams.
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Rotary Machine industry.
- Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, Land and Marine based Gas turbines.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards.
- Proficient in root cause analysis and failure mode analysis techniques.
