We have a unique position available for a talented animation generalist to join our growing studio ‘Vertpaint’ as we head for the release of our debut title - a fully funded Indie first person horror game, ‘Ritual Tides’.

Project Summary: Ritual Tides: Set at the end of the 19th century, our protagonist explores a remote and highly authentic British island, encountering monsters, cultists, and disturbed denizens. We need your help and passion to bring this project to life!

Role Summary:

  • Role: Generalist Animator (Mid / Sr / Lead / Principal)
  • Salary / Title: Subject to level of experience per candidate
  • Location: Fully Remote, must be available during core hours each day 10am - 3pm GMT (UK)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as generalist on the team to manage rigging & animation tasks
  • Rigging, skinning, animation for human, creature, and animal characters
  • Gameplay & cinematic animations
  • Imports and in-engine setup
  • R&D into viability of workflows
  • Work on fast turnaround prototyping tasks
  • Rigging, skinning, animation at the concept phase to unblock designers
  • Utilise mocap / modern animation tools for rapid content creation
  • Work on final deliverable animations
  • Directly contribute to the work (Rigger and/or Animator)
  • Ensure quality standards are met by contractors (brought on as required)
  • Collaboration with Tech Artists on pipelines for implementing animations
  • Character Artists to advise on best practices when modelling for deformation
  • Contract Animators and Riggers (as required) to ensure project needs and standards are met.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Must Have:
  • Exceptional talent as an animator and/or rigger
  • Passion to work on a horror title
  • Experience working in games / films industry
  • Proficiency of the whole pipeline (rigging, skinning, animation)
  • Talent as a keyframe animator
  • Experience with mocap clean-up
  • Good familiarity with UE5 / game pipelines
  • Passion for the craft & eagerness to embrace new tools / workflows
  • Nice to Have:
  • Experience with setting up ABP systems in UE5
  • Experience with setting up physics assets systems in UE5
  • Experience with procedural control rig systems for runtime in UE5
  • Experience animating directly in UE5 & Maya
  • Experience with both cinematic and gameplay animations
  • Experience with source control; Perforce
  • Experience animating first person cinematics
