The Opportunity
Join a high-impact team supporting national and international government operations. As a Senior Python Developer, you will be designing, developing, and maintaining secure and scalable applications within a mission-critical environment. Working on-site at Hanslope Park, you will contribute to a wide range of technical solutions, from data modelling and application development to system support and incident resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and maintain complex Python applications (Python 3.10+).
- Develop and manage secure web interfaces and enterprise applications.
- Analyse and maintain object/data models and evaluate technical solutions.
- Lead on incident and problem resolution within a secure, ITIL-governed environment.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and change control logs.
- Support on-call operations as part of a shared rota (minimum 6 shifts per 28-day cycle).
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Advanced Python programming experience (3.10 or above).
- Experience working in secure environments (e.g., MOD, FCDO, or other government departments).
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat) and/or Windows Server.
- Familiar with ITIL and Agile methodologies.
- Data engineering, object/data modelling, and architecture skills.
- Comfortable with tools such as VMware, SAN/backup storage, and Git repositories.
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and incident resolution skills.
Desirable:
- Experience with Go or other Back End languages.
- Understanding of TCP/IP Networks and enterprise infrastructure.
- Active SC or DV clearance (highly advantageous).
