Morgan Hunt currently requires a Building Services Technician/M&E Technician for a Theatre/Charity based in South West London on a Permanent basis.

Salary: £53,403 PA

Hours: Shift Rota 4 days on 4 days off 7am to 17:30pm and 4pm to 02:00am Mon to Sun - This consists of two day shifts then to late shifts.

Job Role: The Building Services Technician plays a crucial role in providing Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) skills and expertise to maintain the facilities and services of the charity. This role will ensure the smooth, efficient operation of all M&E services, contributing directly to the successful staging of events and functionality of the venue. Success in this role means maintaining a high level of proficiency in all mechanical and electrical works, from routine maintenance to small projects, working flexibly across various systems and different shift patterns.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain mechanical plant and electrical services
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and fit for use
  • Maintain Heating Ventilation Air conditioning (HVAC) systems and conduct pipe work installations/repairs
  • Undertake Portable Appliance Testing when required
  • Maintain electrical installations, services, and plant as per regulations
  • Maintain life safety installations (e.g. PA system, fire alarm, secondary lighting)
  • Perform first line response and repairs to safety systems
  • Ensure compliance with the 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations and on-site guide
  • Be conversant with modern electrical installation systems
  • Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs of electrical equipment
  • Conduct daily plant room, boiler room, and lamp checks
  • Monitor and manage the Building Maintenance System (BMS)
  • Undertake Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPMs) on electrical, mechanical, domestic, and heating systems
  • Maintain all domestic services (water, HWS, CWS, electric and gas)
  • Carry out improvements to ensure uninterrupted service of domestic systems

Suitable Candidates:

  • Extensive experience with electrical and mechanical building services and systems
  • Experience with pumps and motors, inverters, plumbing and HVAC systems, gas fired boilers, low temperature hot water systems, fan coil units, air handling units and chillers
  • Qualification: City and Guilds or other relevant courses (such as 236 part 1 and 2, Electricity at work regulations, 18th edition - wiring regulations, 2391- electrical test/inspection are desirable) or at minimum Level 3 City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent
