The Technical Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing technical projects ensuring the scope and success criteria are clear understood and documented, and ensuring projects are completed consistently on time, within budget and the required quality standards. This role involves ensuring efficient delivery of technical projects in both the IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operations technology) environments, with a specific focus on managing Risk and adhering to strict Change Management procedures in collaboration with teams across multiple sites and departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
The role includes but is not limited to the following:

Project Planning & Management:

Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, budgets, resource allocation and risks.

Work with Stakeholders to define the project scope, goals, milestones, deliverables and success criteria.

Team Leadership & Coordination:

Lead & co-ordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members and/or third party contractors and monitor their progress.

Stakeholder Communication:

Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, risks and issues.

Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure deliverables and success criteria requirements are documented and met.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them.

Monitor and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all project deliverables meet the required quality standards.

Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with project success criteria.

Budget and Resource Management:

Manage project budgets, ensuring that expenditure is within approved limits and commitments are in accordance with published procurement policies.

Allocate resources effectively to optimise project outcomes.

Provide regular financial reports to stakeholders.

Technical Oversight:

Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.

Ensure that technical solutions are aligned with project objectives and organisational standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, task details, risks and financial records.

Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management.

Continuous Improvement:

Contribute to driving process and quality improvements in technical project management.

Oversee the project completion process including the documentation of lessons learned from each project to support this process.

You will be experienced in Project Delivery and familiar with both waterfall and agile methodologies.

You must have outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to articulate complex problems in a clear and methodical way and have experience dealing with difficult and multi-faceted problems.

Desirable

Recognised Project Management certification (Prince, PMP, AMPG etc).

Experience working with commercial systems (SAP or similar) and IT Service Management systems (ServiceNow or similar) and advantage.

Ideally educated to degree or equivalent standard, with membership of a recognised relevant professional body, and certification or qualifications from a relevant industry body.

Relevant experience within a Data centre or critical infrastructure environment.
In line with VIRTUS’ Vetting Policy, the successful applicant must be willing to undergo a BS7858 screening process.
This is a hybrid role, with regular travel to data centres based around London, and occasional travel into central London required.
This role comes with an on-call element, which will require the post holder to participate in an out-of-hours on-call escalation rota.
