We are looking for an experienced and driven Shift Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a high-profile central London site. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership capabilities, a background in building services or facilities management, and a passion for delivering service excellence in a fast-paced environment. Working a shift position, 4 on 4 off days and night rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Support the senior site manager in the daily running of operations
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring completion to quality and safety standards
- Coordinate workload and rotas with the helpdesk and shift teams
- Monitor team KPIs and performance statistics, driving improvements where necessary
- Maintain compliance with all health & safety requirements through regular inspections and audits
- Team Management
- Supervise and develop a team of engineers and technicians
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews (PDRs), and manage absences
- Lead recruitment activities and assist with onboarding
- Identify training needs and support individual development plans
- Handle first-level disciplinary investigations as required
- Customer Focus
- Maintain a professional relationship with the client and stakeholders
- Ensure timely communication and feedback reporting
- Identify and support the delivery of additional service opportunities
- Process & Performance
- Contribute to planning and execution of maintenance schedules and projects
- Assist in quote preparation and supplier management
- Identify process improvement opportunities across operations
- Take part in emergency response procedures and business continuity planning
- Self-Management
- Maintain efficient time management and task prioritisation
- Stay informed through regular internal training and updates
- Promote a positive working culture through example
- Financial Awareness
- Understand SLAs and KPIs and ensure compliance
- Monitor and control additional cost areas such as overtime and materials
- Support monthly performance and contract reviews
Experience:
- Proven supervisory experience, ideally in a shift-based environment
- Strong people management skills
- Experience working in high-footfall, customer-facing environments (e.g., retail, public spaces)
Qualifications:
- Electrical or Mechanical qualification (City & Guilds/NVQ) – Essential
