IT Manager – Gloucestershire School Salary between £33-40k with 28% Pension Scheme (LGPS) 8am-4pm (3:30pm Friday) Purpose: To provide technical and strategic support, in the maintenance and development of the school’s ICT Infrastructure. To manage the IT Strategy and Project Planning and implementation with the support of the School Business Leader and Senior Leadership team. To keep up to date, improve and further the IT function of the school in line with future technological and regulatory developments and teaching needs of the school. Main Responsibilities: To provide technical support for the schools ICT services equipment including maintenance and documentation of projector stock and interactive whiteboards, lamp replacements and software library by processing support tickets on the school Every system. To provide support with respect to the use of Audio/Visual hardware including audio recording within the school. To support any requirements for media duplication and capturing online visual and audio resources. To support staff and students in their use of ICT password resets, hard drive quotas, remote access, Wi-Fi connectivity for personal devices, print credit, printers, projectors, PCs, network connectivity, email distribution lists. To support staff and students with software requirements including MS Office, Adobe Master Collections, Pro Tools, Sibelius, Satchel and other curriculum required applications. To provide and maintain PC hardware, networking fundamentals, Active Directory, warranty arrangements. To perform routine maintenance tasks on the schools ICT equipment to include computers, printers and other peripherals including annual PAT testing of ICT equipment. To support the site team with the use of Net2 software and door access systems. To support the installation of new equipment. Identify, lead, manage and support the development of new ICT systems, networks, equipment and applications for the school to ensure the curricular and management needs of the school will continually be met. Assist the School Business Leader to develop and maintain a three and/or five year IT development plan for the school for approval by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Trustees. Provide termly reports on issues related to ICT for submission and review by the Trustee board. Advise SLT on emerging technologies and their applicability to the school. Keep up to date with trends in hardware and software and to support and advise SLT on technical matters. Work with IT to ensure systems function effectively in a way that supports learning and teaching. Advise on and manage the monitoring of Health and Safety and audit checks including electrical testing, warranties, licenses and risk assessments for all hardware, network infrastructure, telephony and CCTV equipment. Strategic Planning: Develop medium and long term coordinated planning based on the schools educational objectives to keep the school up to date with developments in IT. In conjunction with the nominated member of SLT, develop IT strategically within the school to achieve a safe and efficient IT environment for staff and students. Plan for major developments of the IT service and project manage their implementation. Attend relevant meetings where the IT service is discussed, and input is required. Advise SLT on the implementation of relevant policies and procedures. Development & Maintenance: Manage and provide an IT technical support and advice service to administrative and curriculum areas as required across the school. Manage all the IT, telecoms, printing and CCTV support contracts. Manage and ensure effectiveness of servers, including e-mail, print (papercut), and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software. Manage and ensure optimal operation of Servers, including Microsoft Servers, on both physical and virtual levels. Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs etc. Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems. Design, implement, monitor and review school procedures for managing and recording installations and configuration changes. Design, implement and manage the network infrastructure to meet the school’s requirements. Manage active network components including switches and routers; install additional servers, keep the network operating systems up to date and oversee the maintenance of network workstations. Provide comprehensive in-school support for more complex requests; perform advanced troubleshooting on PCs, peripherals and applications. Advise on compatibility of hardware, applications and operating systems, according to user requirements. Design and implement the schools security and back-up systems and plan disaster recovery contingencies to enable an efficient return of service after any unforeseen system outages. Design, implement and maintain the school’s Anti-Virus system. Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organisations decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network activities. Approve and administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights. Manage and implement the installation of all new computer software as required, enabling the delivery of IT to all operational areas. Manage Internet access filtering, email filtering and related monitoring systems in line with DfE monitoring and filtering guidelines. Manage successful deployment of applications. Upgrade relevant systems out of normal business hours to ensure minimum downtime for staff during critical periods. To have an understanding of various forms of authentication.
