Service Care Legal are working alongside a housing association based in East London who are seeking a Housing Solicitor to join their team on a contract basis. Please note that this would require office attendance 2 days per week.

The Role

As a Housing Solicitor, you'll play a pivotal role in advising and representing the organisation on a range of landlord and tenant matters. From possession claims and disrepair to tenancy fraud and leasehold breaches, you'll be managing a busy, varied caseload with autonomy and confidence. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to balance office and remote work. You’ll report directly to the General Counsel and Head of Governance, with the opportunity to also support junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handling a full caseload of housing matters including:
  • Possession/rent arrears
  • Unlawful occupation
  • Anti-social behaviour
  • Failed succession
  • Disrepair claims
  • Tenancy fraud
  • Drafting and reviewing tenancy agreements and leases
  • Advising on shared ownership and leasehold disputes
  • Preparing legal documents and advocating in court/tribunals
  • Supporting junior legal staff where required
  • Staying current with housing legislation and relevant case law

    • A qualified solicitor with at least 2 years’ experience in housing law
    • Proven ability to manage a busy and varied caseload
    • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, tenancy law, and civil procedure
