The Technical Lead (AI) role is a fully customer-facing position which involves overseeing the architecture/design, engineering processes, and implementation for client projects. A Technical Lead is expected to maintain a high degree of familiarity with the latest developments across a broad set of technologies whilst also being an expert practitioner, capable of hands-on engineering in their favoured tools and languages.

As they are responsible for the overall quality of what we produce, they must be familiar with common architecture and design patterns for Cloud engineering, data management, and service layers. The Technical Lead (AI) is usually not only responsible for their own output but that of a wider engineering team. They must be able to create and shape an engineering ecosystem conducive to high-quality production, involving setting up the best ways of working (elaboration of requirements, pair programming, QA approaches) and utilising the best tooling (CI/CD, automation, developer environments).

Whilst the Technical Lead must be able to act largely independently, they benefit from participation in our central technical quality forums and communities which enable them to leverage the skills and experiences of a wider set of practitioners.

Key Skills

• Knowledge and experience of AI / ML tools and approaches.
• Ability to be the ‘first person on the ground’.
• Engage with the very fast-evolving AI landscape and technologies.
• Happy to work with 'classic' ML as much as the latest LLM developments.
• Wider experience developing modern tech stacks and cloud platforms.
• Capable of engineering in front-end languages and libraries e.g. React, Vue, Flutter.
• Proficiency in back-end languages e.g. C#, Java, Python, Node, Go.
• Broad experience across a variety of CI/CD and test automation tools.
• Strong working knowledge and the ability to embody agile principles.
• First-class people skills and emotional intelligence.
• Ability to cultivate strong stakeholder relationships.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
