About you:

As an Underwriting Team Leader, you will enjoy being part of a busy, friendly team that provides risk expertise and knowledge across the payments division. Passionate to learn, you will lead a team of senior underwriters providing the initial risk assessment of new prospects seeking payment services through Access Paysuite.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Underwrite and onboard new merchants in line with company policies and risk appetite.
  • Undertake quality credit risk assessments, within agreed service levels.
  • Formulate recommendations, for approval via appropriate sanctioning authority, including communicating outcomes / rationale in a clear and concise manner.
  • Recommend reserves on new merchant applications, taking appropriate action to prevent losses.
  • Within the parameters of our acceptable risk exposure, proactively work with internal and external stakeholders (Sales) to apply a pragmatic solution to successfully onboard new merchants.
  • Lead and coach a team of underwriting officers.

Your skills and experiences might also include:

  • Previous experience of working in the Payments industry.
  • Proven Credit Underwriting experience with good understanding of regulatory requirements (KYC, KYB).
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements, bank statements and credit agency reports.
  • Understanding risks associated with industry verticals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with customer / stakeholder focus in mind.
  • Extensive multi-tasking and prioritisation skills, able to excel in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
