Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council are looking to recruit a Retrofit and Engagement Project Officer to join our team based in Ipswich, Suffolk. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary of £35,930 per annum (pro rata for part-time) + Tool Allowance.

Full-time, part-time, and job share opportunities will be considered.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Plumber to join our Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team. The ideal candidate will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for residents, clients, and communities.

About The Role

This role offers the opportunity to work on internal and external plumbing repairs and maintenance in occupied properties, part of the council’s new dynamic housing team. You will undertake high-quality reactive plumbing repairs across approximately 7,000 properties.

Work Will Include, But Not Limited To

• Clear, repair, or renew rainwater gutters and downpipes
• Repair or renew waste and soil pipes
• Repair/replace hot and cold-water services, valves, and fittings
• Renew/repair heating pipework, radiators, valves, and fittings
• Repair or renew bathroom and kitchen plumbing
• Clear blocked waste, sinks, toilets, baths, drains, gullies
• Trace water leaks and carry out rectification works
• Test gullies and report findings
• Assist in planned and cyclical plumbing work
• Undertake trusted assessor surveys and report as required

You will provide excellent customer service and maintain high standards of performance for residents and tenants. A work van and tools are provided, along with a tool allowance.

About You

You should have strong technical plumbing skills, a customer-focused approach, and be adaptable and resourceful. You will need:

• NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing
• Awareness of health and safety practices
• Ability to use mobile tablet technology
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A “can do” attitude to solving plumbing issues

A valid driving license and DBS check are required.
