Are you looking for a rewarding role in a fast-paced catering environment? We are seeking a Catering General Assistant to support our kitchen and catering operations at BAM Finstown, Orkney. This role is perfect for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a team, maintaining high standards, and delivering excellent service.
What You’ll Do:
✔ Assist the Head Chef and catering team with food preparation and service
✔ Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe kitchen and dining environment
✔ Support the breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, ensuring smooth operations
✔ Manage the pot wash area and ensure all equipment is cleaned properly
✔ Monitor and control stock levels, unloading and storing deliveries correctly
✔ Ensure all Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations are followed
✔ Follow COSHH procedures for safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals
✔ Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Head Chef
✔ Work flexibly, supporting the team during busy service periods
✔ Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive dining experience
What We’re Looking For:
A team player with a proactive and positive attitude
Strong communication skills to engage with customers and colleagues
Knowledge of cleaning materials and COSHH regulations (training provided)
Passion for food service and maintaining high standards
Ability to take initiative, follow instructions, and work efficiently
Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role (desirable but not essential)
