Our client is a market-leading independent HVAC maintenance contractor with an enviable client base and a track record of best-in-class maintenance solutions. The majority of its clientele is in Central London, and the consistent growth in their business has brought about the need for a Commercial Manager.
You would be responsible for the management of the supply chain to limit commercial risks to the business whilst ensuring appropriate levels of profitability through the application of sound procurement principles.
- Select & manage approved supply chain partners, their selection based on value and service delivery.
- The number of supply chain partners will be based on a balance of choice within each service category, avoiding a burgeoning compliance management workload.
- Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining the risk register and play a key role in the induction of new staff.
Key Responsibilities/tasks
- Customer Contracts: Maintain a schedule of customer contract conditions to approve contractual purchase orders and investigate contract financial performance. Assist business development with general commercial advice, highlighting risks associated with new opportunities.
- Supply Chain Procurement: Approve all purchase orders based on value, compliance and general suitability utilising preferred suppliers where appropriate. Review and agree supplier terms and conditions and advise the business of associated risks. Maintain a Preferred suppliers list based on RFI enquiries and regular feedback from the clients site teams. Oversee the supplier rebates scheme. Oversee the onboarding of new suppliers. Manage supply chain relationships.
- Insurance: Manage the renewal of all company insurance policies. Manage insurance claims made against the client. Assess and approve supplier insurance documentation and liaise with our brokers where appropriate.
- Financial Performance: Oversee contract commercial reviews attended by site managers. Perform ad-hoc P&L investigations for underperforming contracts. Review customer terms and conditions and advise the business of associated risks. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis, ie, Category spends.
About You
- Analytical by nature.
- Must be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of building services, operation, and maintenance.
- Sound commercial acumen.
- Proficient in the following IT programs β MS Word and Excel. Training will be provided for our bespoke accounting software.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
- Held a similar role within the engineering services environment for >5 years.
- Proven track record in the management of P&L budgets.
- Accredited to a NEBOSH General Practitioner standard.
- Qualified to BTEC, HND, HNC, ONC or Degree level.
