Role Overview
Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders, is seeking a Senior Technical Manager for our East Midlands Division. This role supports the Technical Director and collaborates with Construction, Commercial, and Sales teams to deliver construction projects through accurate architectural and technical support. The Senior Technical Manager also manages the technical team, ensuring timely and precise delivery of tasks.
Principal Responsibilities
- Support the Technical Director with managerial issues, reporting, mentoring, and management.
- Facilitate regular Design Team Meetings early in project development with relevant consultants.
- Oversee production of working drawings, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and timely, with practical and economical design solutions.
- Provide technical support during land acquisition, planning, sales, construction, and post-construction phases.
- Review new site information from Land before proceeding to drawing stages.
- Assess planning information for Building Regulation compliance.
- Coordinate programmes, packages, and superstructure details before final issuance.
- Brief consultants on drawing distribution, key dates, and ensure design changes are communicated effectively.
- Ensure NHBC approvals are obtained and conditions cleared promptly to avoid delays, including managing warranties and Building Control fees.
Experience, Qualifications, and Skills
- Experience as a Senior Technical Manager/Technical Manager in a large volume company.
- Proven leadership in managing high-performing teams within the housebuilding industry.
- HNC/HND in a building-related field.
- CSCS card or equivalent and a full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability to new systems.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Working Conditions
This is an office-based role with regular travel to development sites and meetings. Flexibility in duties and hours is expected.
