The Role
We are seeking an experienced Tableau Server Administrator to join our Technology and Digital Services team at Deloitte. You will report to the Senior Programme Manager and play a vital role in supporting the existing Tableau Server platform for over 120,000 users across 11 geographies. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation and optimal performance of the platform. Please note that you will support with occasional planned out-of-hours maintenance (Usually 1 hour on a Saturday morning once a month and for any unplanned maintenance).
Essential Experience
- Tableau Server Expertise: Proven experience managing Tableau Server (202x version preferred) in a Windows Server 2022, high-availability, distributed environment. Deep understanding of Tableau Server architecture, security, performance tuning, and best practices (networking, firewall configuration, server maintenance, patching, backups, and disaster recovery).
- Scripting & Automation: Scripting/development experience (e.g. PowerShell, Python, TabCMD) for automation.
- Tableau Desktop & Prep: Familiarity with Tableau Desktop (for creating administrative reports and dashboards) and Tableau Prep.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Experience working effectively with diverse teams.
Desirable Experience
- Azure Cloud Experience: Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access policies, and experience managing servers and virtual environments in Microsoft Azure.
- BI & Data Skills: Experience with other BI platforms (e.g. SAP BusinessObjects, Power BI), SQL, ETL processes, data modelling, and diverse data sources (including SAP HANA).
- Tableau Tools: Knowledge of Tableau Server Resource Monitoring Tool (RMT) and Content Migration Tool.
- DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD processes.
- Web Development: Proficiency in HTML and CSS editing.
Deliverables: Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Server Administration: Administer, optimise, monitor, and troubleshoot our Tableau Server 2024.2 platform (Windows Server 2022) for maximum uptime, performance and stability. This includes load/performance testing and addressing infrastructure issues.
- Security Management: Manage all aspects of server security, including patching, upgrades, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning and remediation, security protocols, and authentication (SSO - SAML and OAuth).
- User Support: Provide expert technical support, guidance, and training to end-users, resolving connectivity issues and managing user access.
- Collaboration & Integration: Collaborate with BI development teams on content promotion, best practices, and system integrations. Assist with Tableau content governance, customer onboarding, and request processes.
- Proactive Monitoring: Proactively monitor server health, capacity, and resource utilisation to ensure platform stability.
- Content Management: Maintain and update content for our web portal and help pages.
