A well-established specialist contractor based in Staines is seeking a dependable Van Driver / Yard Operative to support daily operations across London and the South East. This varied role combines driving duties with general yard responsibilities.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position suitable for someone who enjoys practical work and being part of a team. You will be delivering materials to job sites and helping to manage stock, cleanliness, and organisation in the yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a company van to deliver and collect materials from sites
- Load and unload materials safely
- Assist with general yard operations, including stock control
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard and van
- Perform routine vehicle checks and report issues
- Operate a forklift (if licensed)
- Liaise with office and site staff to coordinate deliveries
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (clean preferred)
- Comfortable driving in and around London
- Confident with manual handling tasks
- Good communication and time management skills
- Team player with a can-do attitude
- Experience in a similar environment preferred
Desirable (but not essential)
- Forklift licence
- Familiarity with FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme)
