TEXO Recruitment is supporting our external client in the appointment of an experienced Calibration Engineer to join their team in Aberdeen.

Job Purpose: This is a hands-on technical role responsible for the calibration, testing, and maintenance of advanced subsea and underwater instrumentation. Our client works with a range of sensors and systems, including equipment from manufacturers such as Valeport, Tritech, Paroscientific, and Sonardyne. The role will involve building a new lab, taking ownership of its setup, and ensuring that robust processes and procedures are established and maintained.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • HND or degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
  • Experience with the calibration and maintenance of electronic instruments (marine or subsea experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with equipment from Valeport, Tritech, Paroscientific, and Sonardyne (highly desirable)
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Proficiency with calibration equipment and software
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to documentation
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Clear communication skills, written and verbal

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and develop a new calibration lab, taking ownership of its setup and ensuring robust processes and procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Calibrate and test a wide range of subsea instruments, including depth, conductivity, temperature, and sound velocity sensors
  • Use specialised calibration tools and software to ensure instruments meet required specifications and standards
  • Document calibration results and maintain accurate records in accordance with quality assurance procedures
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on instruments, performing repairs where necessary
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development of calibration procedures and processes
  • Maintain the lab environment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and efficiency
  • Liaise with engineering and technical teams to coordinate workflows and share technical insights
  • Stay current with industry developments, equipment updates, and best practices
