The Role
As Procurement Specialist, you’ll lead the sourcing and negotiation of key materials, components, and services — across complex machine builds with high-spec technical requirements. This role is strategic but also hands-on. You’ll be owning supplier relationships, improving processes, and delivering real value to the business. You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to build a supply chain that can flex with growing customer demand.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sourcing goods and services to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Developing relationships with high-quality, reliable suppliers
- Managing contracts, negotiations, and commercial terms
- Assessing supplier performance and identifying improvement areas
- Supporting machine build timelines with smart procurement planning
- Exploring new suppliers and alternative sources of supply
- Resolving price, delivery, and quality issues with a professional, proactive approach
- Contributing to continuous improvement across the supply chain
What You’ll Need
- Experience in strategic procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and support project timelines
- Supplier management and contract negotiation experience
- Strong commercial and financial awareness
- Analytical and detail-focused with problem-solving ability
- Technical knowledge of components and manufacturing processes
- Advanced Excel and ERP/MRP systems knowledge
- A degree or NVQ Level 5 in a relevant subject preferred
- MCIPS (or working towards) would be a bonus
