We are working with leading satellite communications company in Edinburgh seeking a talented RF Systems Engineer to join their team. The RF Systems Engineer will be responsible for the top-level specification of phased arrays, involving system simulation, algorithm development, and specification writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed system requirements based on customer specifications.
  • Ensure requirements meet all relevant regulatory standards.
  • Define RF system board layout floorplan and layout strategies.
  • Lead RF system integration and debugging activities at the board level.
  • Develop algorithms for the control of RF blocks.
  • Collaborate with digital hardware and software teams to integrate and validate algorithms.
  • Develop test and calibration strategies for sub-assemblies of the complete array.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience in RF and system modeling.
  • Experience in creating algorithms to control complex systems.
  • Experience in system integration, prototyping, measurement, and transfer to production.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High energy levels and the ability to work with both commercial and technical employees.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience with PCB layout for complex systems.
  • Experience with link budget calculations.
  • Familiarity with Keysight SystemVue.
  • PhD or Master’s degree in RF Systems or Communications Theory.
