Job Summary
The Structural Engineer Consultant is responsible for carrying out Structural and Steelwork engineering support for Energy projects from conception to completion. They are involved in different phases of the projects: from basic design to site design modification.
Responsibilities:
- Managing or participating in the design of steelwork structures ensuring compliance with Civil and Mechanical Nuclear Standards
- Working with CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings and models
- Controlling the calculation notes, analytical models and design drawings
- Maintaining company and customer’s QA procedures in the delivery of the civil design of a nuclear reactor site
- Managing engineering changes liaising with concrete structures, pipes, electrical, and ventilation interfaces design management teams
- Liaising with the stakeholders of the projects (for example design offices, construction teams, project management)
- Writing related technical documents to support delivery
- Participating in technical communities to support the development of other Vulcain staff
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical engineering (or equivalent)
- In the absence of a master’s degree in engineering, significant qualifications in an Engineering field with necessary work experience
- Senior/principal level of experience in the detailed design of Steel Structures
- Chartership status or actively undergoing the process of attaining Chartership through a recognised international body will be highly considered when assessing candidates
- Projects dealing with material interfaces
- Projects in high-hazard industries including Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Energy, Heavy process Industry or Bridge
- On-site design support is a plus.
- Previous experience in mentoring junior engineers
- Robot / Rstab / STAAD Pro (or similar software)
- Civil Standards (Eurocodes / ETC-C / RCC-CW)
- TEKLA Structures (a plus)
