AVTAV Ltd is recruiting Flight Co-Ordinators / Flight Handlers on behalf of our client - a leading airline catering company at Gatwick Airport. This is a hands-on, varied role supporting the full in-flight catering process - from cold store checks to final aircraft handovers. You'll be working in chilled environments, loading vehicles, briefing cabin crew, and managing last-minute changes on the ground. No two days are the same - this is a fast-paced, customer-facing role at the heart of aviation operations.
Role Details
- Pay: £16.37 per hour
- Rota: 4 on / 4 off
- Shifts: AM starts: Between 04:00 - 06:00; PM starts: Between 13:00 - 15:00
- Location: Gatwick Airport
- Airside pass sponsored | Full training provided
Key Responsibilities
- Check flight loads in refrigerated storage areas (cold environment)
- Assemble and secure in-flight trolleys to exact airline specs
- Load and deliver catering to aircraft
- Brief flight crew and hand over catering packs at the aircraft
- Manage last-minute changes and offer effective substitutions
- Dress aircraft cabins to airline standard
- Work flexibly across departments as needed
- Maintain safety, hygiene, and airside security compliance
Requirements
- Physically fit and comfortable working in cold/chilled areas
- Confident communicator - able to interact with flight crew professionally
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multitask under pressure
- Fully flexible and reliable - able to rotate shifts and commit to 4 on / 4 off
- Aviation or catering experience desirable (not essential - training provided)
- Basic food safety awareness (HACCP) is a bonus
