We are now searching for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join us at our site in Peterborough:
Job description:
- Lead the design and development of our equipment for the food industry.
- You will play a key role in shaping our product portfolio, ensuring technical excellence, and driving innovation to meet industry standards and customer requirements.
- Lead the design of our food process equipment for the full range of products.
- Develop the Baker Perkins equipment range through continuous improvement and new equipment development projects.
- Generate all associated engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and part lists for manufacturing and assembly purposes. Ensure designs comply with food safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and sales teams to deliver innovative solutions.
- Support Sales and Customer Services departments as a mechanical engineering and equipment expert.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster design best practices within the team.
- Continuously seek opportunities for product improvements, cost reductions, and process efficiencies.
Required profile:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in mechanical engineering, design engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in designing food processing equipment or similar industrial machinery.
- Strong knowledge of materials, hygiene standards, and regulatory requirements for food industry equipment.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Prior experience leading design projects or teams is a plus.
- Knowledge of pressure vessel design would be advantageous.
