Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join the Building Services team at a leading global engineering and design consultancy. This pivotal role involves technical leadership and the design and delivery of complex Electrical Building Services systems across a diverse portfolio of projects, with a focus on commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the team, contributing significantly to project delivery, client relationships, and the mentoring of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Design Leadership: Lead the conceptual and detailed design of all electrical building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and data infrastructure, adhering to UK and European standards.
- Project Management: Take responsibility for the technical and financial performance of projects, managing budgets, resources, and deadlines from inception through to completion.
- Client Engagement: Act as a key technical point of contact for clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality design documentation, specifications, and reports that meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Team Development: Mentor, guide, and supervise intermediate and junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth within the team.
- Business Development: Support senior leadership in winning new work through contributing to bids, proposals, and demonstrating technical expertise.
- Sustainable Solutions: Drive the integration of sustainable and low‑carbon design principles into all electrical engineering solutions.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Academic Qualification: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Status: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised institution (e.g., IET, CIBSE) is highly desirable, or demonstrable progression toward chartership.
- Experience: Significant post‑graduate experience in Electrical Building Services design within a UK consultancy environment, operating at a Senior or Principal level previously.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of industry software (e.g., Amtech, Dialux, Revit) and proficiency with relevant UK design standards (BS, EN).
- Sector Expertise: Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects in sectors such as commercial offices, residential, education, or healthcare.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
