Applications are welcomed from dedicated and experienced Support Workers to join the Adult Learning Disabilities Services team on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. The Service supports people with learning disabilities and autism in a variety of settings. These include residential homes, a short-break service, supported living and outreach. There is also an impressive purpose-built residential autism hub and Therapy and Enabling Day Service.

Depending on your skills and knowledge there will be an opportunity for you to be offered a role in any one of these teams. Please note; Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system, but have applied their own salary scales. The current Band 3 salary range is £29,348 to £34,356 and the Band 4 range £35,170 to £39,866 plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 40% evening/Saturday and 80% Sunday/BH. Annual leave starts at 36 days up to 42 days with full credit for NHS service for annual leave and sick leave.

The island of Guernsey is in the Channel Islands and has a population of 65,000. It has some of the British Isles finest and best-kept beaches, a mild and sunny climate, and an offbeat, historic harbour town in St. Peters Port, the island's capital.

Person Requirements:

  • Band 3: Three years current or recent experience as a Support Worker in a Learning Disabilities setting
  • Band 4: At least three years experience and completion of a UK NVQ3 (or equivalent) qualification
  • To hold a current UK driving licence
  • To hold permission to undertake employment in the UK, not requiring employer sponsorship

All Support Worker applicants will be expected to be friendly and approachable, with an understanding of person-centred care and support and to have patience and empathy when supporting Service Users. Please note, employer sponsorship is not offered with this role.
