Our client is a growing chemicals distributor offering an interesting and varied role to manage purchasing and logistics for importing a range of chemical entities covering a broad range of industries including plastics, polymers, coatings, cosmetics and a range of active ingredients for the food, feed and life science markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise Purchase orders with European and overseas suppliers.
- Coordinate the documentation and movement of products/materials into the UK and to comply with relevant national and international laws and processes.
- Communicate as necessary with all regulatory authorities and suppliers in relevant territories.
- Use personal judgement and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in import/export activity and procedures.
- Monitor Purchase order status and manage risk to ensure effective and timely procurement and stock replenishment.
- Liaise with Product Management and Warehousing on all matters influenced by or reliant upon logistic activities.
- Work with Accounts Payable to ensure that invoices match agreed pricing and monitor on time payments.
- Investigate, plan and implement strategically effective methods of transport.
- Monitor freight rates and ensure effective communication to Product Management and Operations.
Technical skills
- 3-5 years work experience within logistics and supply chain.
- Knowledge of import procedures.
- A knowledge of the regulations concerning the importation of food, feed and life science ingredients into the UK would be an advantage.
- Familiar with Incoterms 2020.
- Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 and CRM & ERP experience (SAP S/4HANA).
