LOCATION: Wandsworth, front line work around the Borough, office SW16 1RP (1 day a month remote)

PAY RATE: £19.41 PAYE / £25.66 Umbrella per hour

About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting older people to live independently and with dignity? We are looking for a dedicated Sheltered Housing Officer to join our Supported Housing Service under the Richmond and Wandsworth Shared Staffing Arrangement.

As a Sheltered Housing Officer, you will manage the day-to-day operations of a designated sheltered housing scheme, ensuring tenant wellbeing, safety, and community engagement. You'll play a vital role in promoting independence, preventing isolation, and supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily management of a sheltered housing scheme, including health & safety checks and maintenance coordination.
  • Conduct regular wellbeing checks and develop Independence Plans for tenants.
  • Liaise with health and social care professionals to support tenant needs.
  • Manage scheme budgets, social funds, and concessionary TV licences.
  • Support new tenant inductions, tenancy checks, and void property processes.
  • Promote tenant engagement through meetings, social activities, and resident associations.
  • Maintain accurate records using NPS and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Act as a safeguarding advocate and respond to emergency situations.

About You

  • Experienced in working with older people in community or residential settings.
  • Knowledgeable about sheltered housing and support services for older adults.
  • Skilled in communication, negotiation, and report writing.
  • Confident using IT systems including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Committed to equality, diversity, and safeguarding principles.
  • Able to travel across sites and provide cover when needed.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working in Sheltered Housing.
  • Previous experience with completing support plans.
  • Understanding of alarm systems and emergency response protocols.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and empathy.
  • Experience in organising social activities and promoting wellbeing.
  • Willingness to undertake professional training and development.
